The people of Shiraz have participated in the traditional "orange tree wedding" ceremony in Nowruz. The story of the wedding of the orange tree is narrated by a woman who wants to cut down a tree that did not bear fruit that year, but with the mediation of the neighbors, the woman is dissuaded. Neighbors hold a wedding ceremony for the orange tree by drawing, reading poems and sprinkling quotes, hoping that the next year the orange tree will stop being unkind and become fruitful.
